Title: Psychomachia – Pride – 4th of 8 in series
Medium: Oil on canvas
Size: 40cm x 50cm
Pride, you balance on the edge, buffeted by winds of change but you are relentless in holding your position, tethered to your ego, unwilling to surrender to the waves of Humility that come your way. We celebrate you! We look up to you, mere mortals we are in your sight as you check your mirror, reset your crown and add some lipstick.
You have lost the ability to be one of us, grandiosity is your home, and love given remains unreturned by you. Your witness Humility, arrives to attest to your grandeur ONLY, not your grandiosity, your witnesses “cannot attest to pride, because pride is not shared.” But still you hold on to it, your grandiosity, allowing your reality of grandeur to dissipate, and there you stand alone, fearful of falling.
Pride keeps you caged, unable to live, unable to love truly, it ensures you live in fear of failure, self criticism and you make yourself the special one for your ego. Still alone.
Little Pride, let me introduce you to powerful Humility, who IS certain, who DOES love and who is NOT alone. Who worries not of the self but rather of the one he meets by chance, the smile he shares and the love he gives, the random act of kindness that shines the light to the next. He is your witness, allow him to help you gently off your podium of nails, allow him to straighten your crown and allow him to love you.
