Title: Psychomachia – Envy – 3rd of 8 in series
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Size: 40cm x 50cm
Herein lies the one who believes that power is outside of the self. Envy, you seem helpless, with enemies around you and an enemy within yourself. “These are the dark ones, silent and afraid, alone and not communicating” . Separate ready to “wage their war of vengeance, bitterness, and spite of him, to make him one with them.’ For lonely you do not want to be, no, you need to have what others have, be what they are. In this illusion Envy, you live and die, ‘grateful’ that there are others like you. With your broken wings you flap about proclaiming your hidden envy as ambition, and other egos join in celebrating it, “he clearly wants to get somewhere in life” while you deftly make your way in life under the guise of ambition, searching out situations that you can best manipulate to seize what you can.
Rest oh Envious one. You have everything already, look clearly within and without and see the witnesses to your treasure house already given you. The gifts are there, claim them for they are yours and always have been. You need only see them. Generosity is at home within you, within those around you, one with you. There is no “need lack” within you, you are wholly supplied with a generous abundance. Remove your wings Envy, you have no need for flapping, Generosity is here to show you your treasures.
