Time, a made device, an entity that assumes a past, present and future, a seemingly physical divide. Where we reside on that time-line is ALWAYS a choice with expected consequences. Within it, time, sits memories, good or bad, lessons, grievances and yes, Conflict. These are our gifts to time.
We hand over Conflict to time, anchored in the believe system that this vacuum of space filled with ‘time’ will resolve all. On either side of the great divide that time intrudes on, both parties are there in power to oppose, but “Power cannot oppose. For opposition would weaken it, and weakened power is a contradiction in ideas.” So within this divide sits nothingness, meaningless lies, personal ‘truths’ and held grievances and judgements – ALL SET IN STONE. “In conflict there can be no answer and no resolution, for its purpose is to make no resolution possible, and to ensure no answer will be plain. A problem set in conflict has no answer, for it is seen in different ways, and what would be an answer from one point of view is not an answer in another light.” While time stands guard there is little chance of solution, no matter how we believe that if we ‘give it time all will be healed’ – this is never true. This is only a weak set of illusions, who is right who is wrong, who is innocent who is guilty, we stand in time and look carefully at our attacker and are left with the following questions: “Of these illusions, which of them are true? Which one establish peace and offers joy? And which can bring escape from all the pain of which the world is made?”. So we wrap ourselves up in the reassurance that the conflict is here to stay, though ignored, for if we do answer these questions honestly we would need to let go of the conflict which serves a deeper, more sinister meaning. One caught in the past and held on to dearly to justify keeping the great divide, filled with time in place. It also justifies our separation from the Conflict, be it another or a situation and keeps us devoid of the answer needed in truth.
When next you find yourself grumbling within to a wrong that was done to you by another, and for a minute you vouch to ‘let it go’ know that in this thought, you only saying: ‘let it stay’. Time enters to claim the perceived winnings and knowing full well it only adds this silence, this assumed conflict resolution to a long list of ‘past’ thorns in our sides. There it sits, incubating, separating, waiting for time to call it as witness. “Delay is of the ego, because time is its concept.”
‘Time is on our side’ if we so choose, “Since only eternity is real, why not use the illusion of time constructively?” For within it can lie the answer to the Conflict. “Eventually, everybody begins to recognise, however dimly, that there must be a better way… a perceptual turning point” and welcomes gladly a ‘not -of-time’ instant, within this instant there is no past, no future and only the present and only within this instant will Clarity and Truth take hold and resolve the nothingness we find in Conflict. In that instant both parties involved ’emerge much farther along in time than they would otherwise have been.”, and time becomes a “learning device”, a release.
“Conflict must be resolved. It cannot be evaded, set aside, denied, disguised, seen somewhere else, called by another name, or hidden by deceit of any kind, if it would be escaped.”
