Maryna Joubert is an avid advocate for recycling, which is evident through the themes chosen in her original mixed media artworks. She has also recently completed her second stay at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, France, and we are very proud to have her as part of our OnlineArt.Gallery community.
Maryna was born in the Orange Free State and raised on a farm in the Edenville, Lindley District. After completing school at Edenville in 1973, she attended the Free State University where she obtained a diploma in Professional Nursing (General-, Psychiatric- and Obstetrics/Gynaecology Nursing) in 1978, BA Hons from Unisa in 1999 and a MA Practical Theology from Unisa in 2007.
She has been married for 41 years and has four beautiful children. During this period, she established and managed a ceramic studio in Pretoria for 25 years, specializing in art classes for disabled children and taught ceramics at Centurion College. She also worked in the field of Psycho-Forensic Assessments as practice manager, and continued doing photography, painting, printmaking and silversmithing.
In 2012 they moved to Jeffreys Bay in the Eastern Cape on semi-retirement, although this has not slowed her down! Her current focus in art-making is on the mutual impact of humankind’s lifestyle and the natural environment. She has also recently completed her second stay at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, France, and we are very proud to have her as part of our OnlineArt.Gallery community.
