Gerda-Grove
Gerda Grove

Gerda Grové is a passionate South African artist who is privileged to live on a beautiful farm near Ficksburg with her husband, and has four children and nine grandchildren she is very proud of. Gerda’s passion for art was kindled at a young age and she has been painting full-time since 1990. She enjoys working in different mediums, but her main love is oil on canvas.

She obtained a BA degree at North West University, Potchefstroom and a Higher National Diploma in Education at the University of Pretoria. She has also been selected twice to stay so art residencies through SANAVA at the prestigious Cité des Arts in Paris, France, which had an invaluable influence in her work. She loves people, and gives art classes to this day to help people develop their creativity, the spice of life.

“I find enjoyment in using my paintings to project my perception of movement, feelings, symbolism, faith and colour. It is the vehicle with which I share the messages and things that are dear to me. I am so thankful that the process of painting still fills me with great joy. It excites me when the brushstrokes, colours, lines and canvas start to tell their own story!”
